What is the embed widget
A chat bubble for your website, powered by your Pegasus bot.
The Embed Widget lets website visitors chat with one of your bots without a Pegasus account. You add one line of HTML to your site; Pegasus renders a chat bubble in the bottom-right corner. Click → a popup chat opens.
Who can see it#
Anyone visiting your website. The widget creates an anonymous visitor session when the chat opens. There is no sign-up flow on the visitor side.
What the visitor experiences#
- They land on your website normally.
- They notice a chat bubble in the bottom-right corner.
- They click; a small chat window opens.
- They type a question; the bot streams an answer.
The widget shows "Powered by Pegasus" at the bottom of the chat window.
What the bot owner (you) controls#
| Setting | Where |
|---|---|
| Enable/disable the widget | Bot detail → Embed tab |
| The embed snippet to paste | Bot detail → Embed tab → Copy snippet |
| The widget token (rotation) | Bot detail → Embed tab |
| Allowed origins (which domains can use the widget) | Bot detail → Embed tab |
| Whether the bot is in READY status | The bot detail page; widget refuses non-READY bots |
What the bot owner does NOT see#
- The visitor's identity. Sessions are anonymous.
- Conversation history from widget chats (today). Usage analytics show widget activity in aggregate.
When the widget rejects a visitor#
The widget displays an error and won't proceed if:
- The widget is disabled.
- The bot is not in READY status.
- The page's origin is not in the allowed origins list (when configured).
- The widget token has been revoked or rotated.
See Widget troubleshooting for each error.
Plan availability#
The embed widget is included on every plan — Free, Pro, and Ultra. Higher plans get higher rate limits for widget traffic.
